Friday Focus: Plenty of Big Games on Tap (9/10/10; w/ results)

Friday night (Sept. 10) will be one of the biggest nights in the 2010 Division I women's soccer season, with nine head-to-head matchups between teams ranked in the top-50 of the CollegeSoccer360 Composite National Rankings. Four of those games involve top-10 teams: #7 Florida at #10 Florida State ... #3 Notre Dame at #11 UCLA ... #26 Rutgers at #4 Portland ... and #30 Texas at #9 Virginia.

There again are several tournaments featuring strong four-team fields, most notably:

• at #4 Portland (with #26 Rutgers, #35 Penn State and #45 Washington)
• at #9 Virginia (w/ #23 William & Mary, #30 Texas & America East favorite Boston U.)
• at #36 Virginia Tech (with #16 Wake Forest, Villanova and Vanderbilt)
• at #2 Stanford (with #12 Santa Clara, #33 Georgia and Univ. of the Pacific)

Friday night's schedule will feature 30 games involving CS360 top-50 teams, with 39 of those teams in action (nine head-to-head) while 11 others are idle (noted at bottom of this blog post).
